Ducks, geese, a turkey... and a dog
Meg, Rainbow Ark's ever-present dog, pays a visit to the resident fowl, who as well as this field have their own pond and shelter.

Rabbits
Rainbow Ark's rabbits play with the chickens... and a human visitor!
|
Horses
These two beautiful horses were left in one of Rainbow Ark's fields one day and, like all arrivals, they were looked after well.
|
Goats
The goats at Rainbow Ark are real characters, and are always inquisitive towards those who pass by, especially if they bring food!

Dog
One of Rainbow Ark's many resident dogs. Plenty of dogs taken in by the sanctuary cannot be rehomed, for various reasons. Unlike some institutions which take in unwanted animals, Rainbow Ark is a no-kill sanctuary, so these dogs become permanent residents, to be looked after for the rest of their lives.
|
Montana the cat
Montana began life as a feral cat who couldn't even be approached without running away, but has gradually become one of the tamest cats most visitors have ever met, even peacefully sharing her accommodation with a hen that likes to live indoors and dozens of mice rescued from an out-of-control breeder in North Wales, with no signs of animosity between any of them!
|
Chickens
One of the most visible (and audible) signs you've arrived at Rainbow Ark is the crowds of chickens wandering around going about their business. Many of them are rescued battery hens which come in shell-shocked and lacking feathers before learning to live outdoors and looking much healthier and happier as a result.
|
Chickens dustbathing
One natural behaviour these rescued battery hens don't get to enjoy when stuffed in tiny cages as bathing in dusty areas they like to scrape out. Rainbow Ark hens live much happier lives than their intensively farmed cousins.

Ferret
One of Rainbow Ark's many ferrets, who move so quickly they're difficult to photograph.
|
Ferret-in-a-jug
The ferrets are often let out to explore their surroundings at feeding time, and also taken on walks outside. Every available space becomes home to an inquisitive ferret.

Ferret feeding time
These ferrets enjoy a feeding frenzy.
